I’m an unabashed fan of gamerDNA. It simple, looks great, tells you what games you might like, and the data in it is used to fuel TweetMyGaming. But I do have one major issue with it: though it can track gaming on PSN or Xbox Live automatically, you have to enter PC games manually. *

This is where my second favorite gaming network comes in, Raptr. It has a desktop application that basically goes through all the game files and figures out what you have, and so long as it’s on, it will automatically tell your profile what you’re playing. It’s much more precise than gamerDNA, even if it’s less friendly. It even tracks Xbox Live and PSN

There is a problem, though. The app itself takes forever to load, so disable the start at boot in the settings if you’re on a netbook.

*Okay, so that’s not entirely true. It does technically track Steam, but it doesn’t seem to work quite as well as the console tracking does. Also, please be prepared for notes like these at the bottom–I’m probably going to that a lot.

Disney Buys Marvel, Then Looks at Marvel Game Licenses

If you sent any amount of time on the Internet today (like you are right now), you probably heard that Disney bought Marvel Comics outright. Though exciting/rage-inducing for some of us, most gamers probably didn’t mind that much, but Kotaku did dig up an interesting factoid: Disney is now looking into which of the expiring game licenses are still worth anything, and whether they could produce some games in-house. An “uh-oh” moment might ensue, but think for a second and realize Split/Second is being made by Disney. See, all better?

Why No Posts?

You may have noticed that there have been no posts, even despite Comic-Con and all the gaming news that come along. But it’s summer, and I wanted to start and explain how some of the things will work, but not neccessarily do any posts. So don’t expect much until, oh say, September.

Crysis 2–Now on Consoles!

Crysis 2, the sequel to the critically acclaimed game that was quite the system hog on PC, now officially has a sequel (sorry, Crysis Warhead, you don’t count) called Crysis 2; and yes, it is officially coming to 360 and PS3. That’s about all that’s known yet.

Reviews… How the System Works

Today I would like to explain how reviews on The Cake Isn’t A Lie will work. Each review will have a review of varying length containing my personal opininions on the game. Hen, it will have plusses and minuses that sum up the review in only a couple of words each. This will all be factored into one final score of 1 to 10, 1 being Deny or Die! and 9 or 10 being Buy or Die! (Anyone that’s paid a visit to Mac v. PC should recognize those terms. The game being reviewed might be a recent release, an older game, or a classic, it doesn’t matter. I will also include the system I played it on, as sometimes the versions on different consoles are actually very different; however, I cannot play the versions of every game on every platform, as I can spend only so much money. It should also be noted that I own a Wii and anXbox 360, in addition to a decent PC (I’ll post the specs in a later post).

And so you know the details of the review system.

Today is a glorious day. Why? I fianlly started my pet project today: a gaming blog, in fact the one you’re now reading. Don’t expect any miracles, however; the gaming industry treats me like anyone else that doesn’t blog, mainly because I pretty much am and this is just a pet project. So, again, don’t expect me to have week-before-other-bloggers reveals. I mainly will repeat what others say in a simple, witty format. Also: I am doing this alone for now, sadly I will have no help for cubsfan555 of Mac v. PC h “fame”.
